What’s new?
Driver License Checks in Avrios have been enhanced with AI-powered features. Avrios’ artificial intelligence (AI) now automatically extracts data from uploaded driver’s licenses and supports drivers during the upload process.
The result: faster checks, fewer manual entries, and fewer follow-up questions between fleet managers and drivers.
Overview of the improvements:
Driver data is automatically readout from the photo of the driver’s license
Drivers receive immediate guidance during upload, e.g. if the wrong document was uploaded or the photo is blurry
The verification process is accelerated overall
Automatic data readout
As soon as a driver uploads a photo of their driver’s license, the AI automatically extracts the relevant data:
Driver’s license number
Issue date
Expiry date
Country
Manual entry of this data is no longer required. This reduces the effort required for each check and prevents data entry errors.
Guidance for drivers during upload
The AI checks the uploaded document directly during the upload process. Drivers receive immediate feedback if something is not correct, for example:
Wrong document: A different document was uploaded instead of the driver’s license, e.g. an ID card.
Insufficient image quality: The photo is blurry or cannot be read.
This allows drivers to correct errors themselves immediately. Fleet managers only receive the correct document in a quality suitable for verification – without unnecessary back-and-forth.
What changes for me as a fleet manager?
The process remains unchanged. You invite drivers to complete the check as usual (or Avrios does this automatically at the defined interval), drivers upload their driver’s license, and you review and approve it.
The difference is that the data is already automatically captured when you review the check. You can verify the information at a glance and approve it. As before, every check is automatically logged and remains available for review at any time.
What changes for my drivers?
The upload process works as usual using a smartphone photo. The new feature is the immediate feedback: if something is incorrect (wrong document, blurry photo), drivers see this directly during upload and can fix it right away.
ℹ️ Note: AI recognition has primarily been tested with European driver’s licenses. Since AI can make mistakes in individual cases, drivers should continue to review the detected information.

Automatic process with AI support
When starting the Driver License Check, drivers can choose between the automatic process with AI support and the manual process.
For the automatic process, drivers first agree to the processing of driver’s license images by the AI.
Then:
Drivers receive guidance on how to take optimal photos of their driver’s license.
The images are captured and checked by the AI.
The AI identifies relevant information and potential issues.
During the first Driver License Check:
The AI extracts driver’s license data such as driver’s license number, issue date, expiry date, and country.
The detected data is displayed to drivers for review.
After confirmation, the data can be submitted.
During subsequent Driver License Checks:
The AI mainly checks the quality and correctness of the uploaded image.
Re-entering driver’s license data is not required.
Manual process
Drivers can continue to use the manual process as an alternative.
In this process:
The driver’s license image is captured without AI verification.
Data is entered manually during the first Driver License Check.
Automatic checks for image quality or incorrect documents are not performed.
Drivers can also switch from the manual process to the automatic AI-supported process at any time.

Do I need to activate the new features?
No, the features are automatically available for all customers with the Driver License Check add-on.
The new features will be rolled out gradually. The first customers will receive access starting on 20 June 2026. After that, additional customers will be activated week by week.
Are there any additional costs?
No, the improvements are included in the existing Driver License Check add-on. The number of checks remains unlimited.
What happens to the photos? Is this GDPR-compliant?
Yes, data processing and storage comply with GDPR requirements.
